Performs a variety of administrative duties in the planning, development and implementation of instructional, recreation and fitness classes as well as other aquatics programs, sports and special events.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Works under the general supervision of the Aquatics Manager.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Supervises and motivates shift supervisors, lifeguards, instructors, and coaching staff of competitive programs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Serves as a liaison between the City of Farmington and any programs utilizing the facility.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Responsible for the organization and implementation of American Red Cross swimming lessons. <5c pan=""><5c>\n

Schedules and runs various aquatics activities throughout the year.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Conducts and coordinates training programs for lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors according to facility and Red Cross Standards.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Independently plans, develops, schedules, coordinates instruction, and supervises aquatics facility usage to implement classes, programs, sports, and special events to suit recreation, fitness, and therapeutic community needs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Supervises classes, workshops, and special events for both co-sponsored programs, and aquatics programs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Coordinates staff in the development and implementation of aquatics programs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Supervises classes, workshops and special events for persons engaged in aquatics programs and co-sponsored programs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Prepares lesson plans, to teach and expand existing programs, and actively learns new skills to develop and teach new water activities.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Assists in the supervision of program participants, completes program record sheets, tracks statistics for classes, and assists in renewing and applying for any applicable grants.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Inventories, organizes, and prepares equipment and supplies needed for classes, programs, and special events.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Uses effective communication with the Aquatics Manager to advocate for the needs of staff, facilities, and program participants.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

With the approval of the Aquatics manager, has the responsibility to cancel, and reschedule classes, programs and special events as assigned.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Assists in maintenance of all municipal pool and interactive fountains by maintaining water balance, maintaining pool filtration systems, and other pump room duties.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Assists in preparing, updating and distributing a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding aquatics programs.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Organizes support groups as needed for the various aquatic activities.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in recreation or a closely related field, and two years of experience in the management, operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Must have current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR\/AED.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Must be currently certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator is preferred.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor\/Trainer certification and American Red Cross Life guarding Instructor\/Trainer certification is preferred. If you do not hold these certifications, you must be able to obtain American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor\/Trainer within (6) months, and Water Safety Instructor Trainer within (2) years.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Knowledge of pool chemistry.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Knowledge of filtration and chemical injection systems.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Improvement Division (EID) regulations to assure compliance and public safety.<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Knowledge of the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC).<5c pan=""><5c>\n

Considerable knowledge of equipment, facility operations, and techniques used in the various aquatic activities.<5c pan=""><5c>\n
